Book CoverInspired by the success of the BBC's current Doctor Who range, Boxtree are reviving another long forgotten children's series in an exciting range of novels. "The New Littlest Hobo Adventures" are promised to expand the world of the original series, being harder darker and grittier than before.

"Inevitably" says range consultant Pieter David Lewis "the new stories will feature elements which could not have been achieved on the small screen. Rutting, for example, which is a valid part of the life of the principle character will feature quite highly. The audience has grown up and we feel that they will accept the new developments however much they bastardise the original format."

Future developments will include London's near fatal injury in a road traffic accident, necessitating life-saving surgery where he will gain two bionic legs. An arc of books is planned which will put him through the emotional mill, explaining and questioning his motivations leading to his finally settling down and raising a family.

Says Lewis, "we look forward to expanding, developing and playing with the Littlest Hobo format as we feel it is flexible enough to encompass a wide range of stories which the original format would not have run to. If there's enough people not buying them because they're nothing like the orignal series then we'll capitalise on them with a series of Missing Adventures too."

The series begins in May with "Death on the Rocks" set, controversially, in Torquay.
